Due to its Independence of the plane of radials, although studies of this antenna have considered the classic ground plane, experiences have been made with the Folded Monopole without it, but with a system of low impedance grounding, obtaining an excellent performance behavior and stability even with variations in soil moisture. Due to its height, calculations of field intensity show that the gain between antennas of ¼ wave length and ½ wave lengths has been incremented in 50%, that is 3dB.
This suggests that, there is no need of spending in a half wave mast which costs more than 6 times that of a wave mast, which also results in economics advantages. This gain difference is compensated with a higher radiation resistance, consequently resulting in greater efficiency.
